SWBS 1st Chili Cook Off
Do you have a great chili recipe? Or do you love eating chili? If so, this event is for you.
Here’s the plan:
March 22, Friday, arrive at Tyler Airport by 4 p.m. We will have a van to transport you and your chili (in a crockpot) to the Staybridge Suites Hotel/LaQuinta. The hotels share the same parking lot. They are right next to each other. Each room has a kitchenette to heat your chili or add any last-minute secret ingredients.

The rate is $129 per room.
DEADLINE FOR THIS RATE IS FEBRUARY 22, 2024.
$35 registration fee per person. The registration fee will cover the cost of the conference room, prizes, and supplies. And some beverages for the cook off.
If bringing chili, please register for that category.
We are asking those not bringing chili to sign up to bring sides such as:
Crackers – Cornbread - Cheese – Beer/wine
Please register for which side/beverage you will be bringing.
Bring your chili or sides, explained above, to the Vista Room in the Staybridge Suites by 5:00 p.m. The tasting will begin at 5:45 p.m.
The winner will receive a prize and bragging rights.
Saturday morning the van will be available to head to the airport in time for the poker run if you are participating. Separate registration for the poker run.
Rules for chili entry:
- Very simple. Make your best chili.
- No toppings allowed for tasting.
- Crackers will be available to cleanse tastebuds between each sample.
- SWBS will provide sample cups and ballots.
- Each entry will be assigned a number. No names used.
- Score cards will have 3 criteria. Taste, visual, spice (not necessarily heat, but appropriate spice)
Chili with the highest score wins.
Prizes: 1st place - $100
2nd place - $50
Poker Run will be Saturday March 23 in Tyler. Though it is the day after the Chili Cook Off there are separate registrations.
